LeBron James Wins M.V.P Award

LeBron James for the 4th time in his career has won the M. V. P award but what makes this season different from the others is how great he played. With out a doubt, this MVP season has been the best out of all the MVP seasons LeBron has had, LeBron averaged 26.8 points per game, 8 rebounds per game, 7.3 assists per game and shot 57% from the field and 40% from 3. LeBron James had career highs in field goal percentage, three point percentage, rebounds this season.

LeBron James became only the second player to win 4 MVP awards in 5 seasons the other player was Bill Russell. LeBron also became the youngest player to win four MVPs as well the fifth player to win four MVPs and finally the second player to win a MVP with two different teams the other was Kareem Abdul Jabber. LeBron James is definitely creating a legacy in the NBA, LeBron and the Heat right now are the favorites to repeat and most likely will that would give LeBron 2 rings, 4 M. V. P awards, maybe 2 finals MVP and two Olympic gold medal.

As LeBron wins his fourth MVP, haters will have to soon realize that LeBron James is an amazing player that made only one mistake which really was not a mistake because he made a lot of money for the boys and girls club of America. The show was not even his idea he was approach by a friend and accepted the idea of it. LeBron James is not done, he is only getting started.

Knicks Spotlight: Knicks and Notes from This “Fun” Weekend

What a weekend. And while I still haven’t processed why J.R. Smith will continuously hurl up fadeaway/stepback shots when he’s double teamed with 6 seconds on the shot clock, and why LeBron James can get up after flying six feet in the air, getting bumped, and landing on his knee awkwardly, and leading his team to victory while after Melo trips he leaves the game, I’m here to break down a few things of interest from this week.

March 3: Knicks Collapse

Don’t get me started on J.R. Smith. He has singlehandedly lost more games for the Knicks than he cares to notice. Maybe weakly flipping passes across the court are just part of the “experience”. I have no other explanation for his ineptitude except for the fact that the guy, while there are times that I absolutely love him, is just plain boneheaded. But that was just part of the game against the HeatM. Melo continues to get hot in the first quarter, but wouldn’t it be better for EVERYONE if he could move his hot play into the fourth quarter? He seems to be tired form bringing the ball up, and that makes Ray Felton’s play insignificant and throws the balance of the offense out of whack. Thats something that can be addressed in the future. Jason Kidd also broke his shooting slump, which, in the long run, is great for the Knickerbockers. Not much else here, just a disappointing loss.

March 4: Kenyon Martin Signs Sceond 10-Day Contract

This is fine, but when will he ACTUALLY PLAY? We are just wasting a roster spot at this point! If you’re going to use him, Woody, then do it soon. We all have been patiently waiting to see if K-Mart can contribute.

March 5: Big Comeback in Cleveland

This was a game that, to be quite honest, would end our legitimacy in the Eastern Conference. The defense was nonexistent and there was absolutely NO effort on the part of the Knicks up until halftime. But with the second quarter about halfway over, Melo trips like a camel on ice. he leaves the game for “soreness”, and the Knick players took it to heart. They went on a mega-run, led by Amare Stoudemire, and scored 70 bench points in the win. The only thing I was concerned about was that maybe Amare played TOO well. If this game against the Cavs proved anything, it was that he and Carmelo play better apart. Maybe it was just a sign that Amare is back to his old self, but this is one issue that every Knicks fan should keep their eye on.

Well thats all for now. Lets see if Melo can come back by Thursday vs. Oklahoma City AND if not, how the Knicks will play in Detroit, then against the Thunder.

The Miami Heat do the new internet craze known as the Harlem Shake.

Miami Heat, Is There Really A Problem?

The Miami Heat have had an up and down season, with overlooked highs and censured lows. The lack of a big man and rebounding has taken most of the blame for Miami Heat’s problem but is it really the problem? This season Miami has been out rebounded in 8 of their 13 losses, and out rebounded in total rebounds 570(Opponents) – 515(Heat). That is not as bad as people are making it seem, so if rebounding is not issue then what is it?

Consistent Shooting maybe the problem for the Heat, In their 13 losses the Heat have shot worst in 3pt% in all of them except one. So, they have shot worst from 3 in 12 of their 13 losses. Free throw percentage is also been bad in the Heat’s losses, they have had a worst FT% then their opponent in 10 of their 13 losses. The Heat do not normally shoot like this, they are 2nd in the league at 3pt% and 13th in the league in FT%. The Heat maintain a good field goal percentage though, despite the bad shooting from 3 and the free throw line.

Rebounding may not be the problem this entire season but it was in January. The Heat got out rebounded 274(Opponents) – 223(Heat) in all their losses in the month of January. Before January the Heat were out rebounded by only 4 rebounds, 296(Opponents) – 292(Heat) in all of their losses. This month may just be a fluke or it maybe because of the opponent they were facing because in their 5 losses in January, they played the Pacers(David West, Hibbert), Bulls(Noah, Boozer), Blazers(Hickson, LaMarcus), Jazz(Al Jefferson, Milsap), Celtics(KG, Brandon Bass). The only team they had more rebounds then was the Celtics who are the 2nd worst rebounding team in the league.

I think the Heat’s problem is an effort problem, the Heat do not feel like playing at 100% for every game and they underestimate the bottom teams in the league and every team in the league tries their best against the Heat no matter what. The Heat will be ready to play great basketball by the time playoffs come and no one will be able to stop them unless injuries step them back once again.

Interesting Stats found while researching on topic:

– In ALL of the Heat’s losses they never had a better 3pt% and more total rebounds then the other team.

– In ALL of the Heat’s losses they never had more assists then the team that beat them.

– In 9 of the Miami Heat’s losses they have given more then 100 points.

– In only 3 losses have the Heat had less turnovers than the team that beat them.

Ray Allen’s Return to Boston

In just a couple hours Ray Allen will check in to the game for the first time in TD Garden since leaving the Boston Celtics this past off-season  Ray Allen will either be met with Cheers or Boos, probably both but one sound will out weight the other and we still don’t know which one it will be.  Ray Allen left the Celtics this past off-season to join with the Miami Heat turning down a 12 mil/2 year deal from the Celtics with a no trade clause and signing a 2 year, 6 mil deal with the 2nd year being a player option.

This season Ray Allen is averaging 11 points per game down from last year when he averaged 14 points per game, his shooting has been up and down too. He is shooting 47% from the field up 2 percent from last year but is shooting 88% from the free throw line and 44% from 3 both down from last year. Overall Ray Allen has done a good job with the Heat especially in clutch situation, the most memorable was the 4 point play against the Nuggets that sealed the win for the Heat.

Without Ray Allen the Celtics have gone 20-23 this season clinging on to the 8th seed in the East, the Celtics are missing his 3 point shooting. This season they 27th in team 3pt% with 33% and last season with Allen they were 7th in the league in team 3pt% with 36%. The Celtics did go out and get some replacements for Ray Allen, they signed Jason Terry and Courtney Lee. Terry is averaging almost 10 points per game, shooting 42% from the field and 36% from 3, Lee is averaging 7 points per game on 47 FG% and  33 3p%.

No matter if they boo him or not Celtics fan should appreciate what Ray Allen did for them but it is understandable for them to be mad at Ray Allen for leaving.
